The current Metagame #1

What can I say about the current Metagame? The current Metagame consists of "Lightsworn", "Gladial Beat", "Blackwing" and "Dark Synchro". At the start of the new banned list, "Lightsworn" and "Gladial Beast" won nearly every event. There were other decks in the top 8 of some nationals, but none of them won. Every deck had tech cards vs "Gladial Beast" like "Jowls of Darkness", "Phantomn Dragon" (both for the Mirror) and "Aurkus, Lightsworn Druid", But it changed. The Metagame changed after the release of "Summoner Monk", This card in combination with "Rose, Warrior of Revenge" gave the "Dark Synchro" deck the power for success. Now they were able to make a turn 1 "Stardust Dragon" or "Colossal Fighter" which are the key cards for the "Gladial Beast" or "Lightsworn" matchup. The first appearence was the "Greek National Championship", where 2 "Oppression Synchro" decks made it into the top 8. A lot of players took the main structure of the deck and tested it. One of them was me =)

And then came one weekend, where the metagame changed in my opinion. It was also the weekend of the first big "Konami" event organized in North America: The "Shonen Jump Championship Anaheim" on the April 25-26. And the winner was "Jeff Jones" with a "Skilldrain" deck.

So some guys found the solution to the current metagame. The card was called "Skilldrain" and it was the key vs both "Lightsworn" and "Gladial Beast". "Skilldrain" was the perfect answer to "Cold Wave" or the mill ability of "Lightsworn".

This was the first part. Will be continued soon...
