A little bit busy atm

Work, work, work...

I'm very busy at the moment so i can't write frequently new articles. I hope i will get more time in the future ;)

The new Booster Packs...

A new Booster Pack: Stardust Overdrive

This Booster Pack has only a few good cards. It has no staples or cards for Meta-Decks. The best cards in this set are the Secret Rares and here they are:

Guardian Eatos
- This card is a free 2500er spezial summon if you have no monster in your grave. You will have to play Dimensional Fissure or Macro Cosmos to summon it constantly. Every card that is a free spezial summon is a good card. If you want to play Dimensional Beat (Dimensional Fissure and Skill Drain) then he's your boss card.

Archlord Krystia
- This card fits very well in Lightsworns, because they play some fairy monsters in the main deck (Honest and Celestia, Lightsworn Angel). You only need to add Herold of the Orange Light to have more tricks available (and it helps versus Blackwing - Kalut the Moon Shadow or Honest). This card is good in the mirror match because you can build up your board and stop your opponent to do the same. And this card is also a free spezial summon which gets you a Honest back from the graveyard (Card Advantage = Good Yugioh). I want to have two of them, but i won't buy it because it's only playable in Lightsworn. If you have this card and a Lightlord deck, keep it!

Dark Simorgh
- I think this card is hyped and won't have a big impact to the metagame. This card was released in Yugioh Online 2, but it's not played there and they don't play it in Japan, so we won't see this card winning big tournaments. This card looks good on paper, but fails in action because there are no good WIND attribute monster (exclude Elemental Hero Stratos) and every big monster (like synchros) can kill it in battle or by his effect (exp.: Chaos Sorcerer, Judgement Dragon, Dark Armed Dragon). I won't spend money on this guy and sell him on ebay (you won't get more money than yet!).

Shutendoji
- This card is Card Advantage if you have a zombie-filled graveyard. It's like Pot of Avarice in the opening hand so i would only play one copy of this card if i run enough zombie monsters. The main problem with this card are the average attack and defense stats of it. 1500 ATK is very in this metagame and sometimes this card is like a waste summon. I would try to sell this card as long as players are thinking that this card is good =)

A new Booster Pack: Hidden Arsenal

This Booster has the same problem like Stardust Overdrive, there are only a few new and good cards in it. This are the cards you should look for:

Flamvell Magical
- This card is a level 4 tuner and has 1400 ATK so he won't fall in Bottomless Trap Hole. That's good because nearly every deck plays Bottomless Trap Hole at the moment and so you can summon Stardust Dragon in combination with Summoner Monk. You can get him out your deck with Flamvell Firedog if you destroy an opponent monster in battle (like a better Blackwing - Shura the Blue Flame) and summon the level 8 synchro monster you need atm. Then you can use this two cards together with Rekindling to spezial summon more level 8 synchro monsters or do a lot of damage. So this is the best Super Rare card in this pack!

Mist Wurm
- I think there are some situations where you really need this card, but it's hard to summon. You need a tuner and two non-tuner monster to reach level 9 so you can't play it in a lot of decks. It's only for Blackwing, Cat Synchro or Lightsworn. Don't pay for this card, it's not broken!

Ally of Justice Catastor
- This is the best available level 5 synchro monster in the TCG right now. It has a monster killing effect and it works against the popular Lightsworn deck. Junk Synchron and Blackwing - Blizzard the Far North are his best friends to summon him. This is a card where you can spend money on, but remember: you won't need more than two =)

Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier
- Here we go! This is my favourite synchro monster. Brioniac is a combo monster which can set up a lot of One-Turn-Kills and finish of EVERY synchro monster in the game. Works very good with Zombies and will have an impact on what synchro monster you're going to summon. You can't hide now behind your Stardust Dragon and some face-down spell/trap cards, because brioniac will kill your dragon. He's the best card in this set and has a fix spot in your future extra deck. Get him, play him and keep him!

Over and out!

Stay tuned and read this!

A new format: Highlander

Are you bored of the current format? Do you wanna play new decks? Then you will like playing "Highlander". In Higlander there can only be one kind of each card.

First of all the rules:
- every card is restricted to one
- you cannot use cards of the current forbidden list

It's a new format with new decks. In this format there won't be a dominating theme deck like "Lightsworn", "Blackwing" or "Gladiator Beast" because you can't play enough of their cards. It's a control format and you have to think about each single card you put in your deck. You can play more trap cards, because your opponent has only the access to one "Jinzo" and one "Royal Decree". I like this kind of format because every single card you play is important. You won't be able to play every card because there is not enough support for it, so you have to search new tech cards. For example "Wulf, Lightsworn Beast" is a very bad card in this format and it's the same with "Blackwing - Shura the Blue Flame".

A new blog: Mystic Tomato

There's a new blog called Mystic Tomato from another German speaking player. The style is a little bit like The Irish Duelist, but he writes about different things. He wants to continue the old "Metagame.com" column "The Champions" and i think this is a good idea. He also interviewed me so if you wanna read more about me here's you chance!

What else?

I try to book a flight for the Shonen Jump Los Angeles on January 9-10th 2010 which got finally confirmed. I will start to post shorter articles from now on and try to format them like this on and continue putting videos on Youtube. That's it for today, thanks for reading!

Chaos-Tele-DAD

Here it is without any comment...

This deck is like the Tele-DAD deck: You have a lot of special summons, you have quality monster, you have speed and you're able to win in one hudge turn. I think this deck has a good matchup against Lightsworn and Gladiator. You can summon Stardust Dragon turn one and you can handle problem monster with Chaos Sorcerer or Dark Armed Dragon. If Lightsworn is going to swarm the field, you smash them away with Lightning Vortex. Of course this is not the final version but i think it's a good build to play against Lightsworn (which is the deck to beat). If you are going to SJC Austin and you have no clue what to play then this is your chance to try something new. This is the deck i'm going to play the next weeks until i finished my X-Saber deck.

Claudio Kirchmair, Chaos-Tele-DAD, 41 cards

Monster: 18
3 Thunder Dragon
2 Chaos Sorcerer
2 Destiny Hero - Diamond Dude
2 Krebons
2 Destiny Hero - Malicous
1 Dark Armed Dragon
1 Gorz the Emissary of Darkness
1 Destiny Hero - Plasma
1 Elemental Hero - Stratos
1 Dark Grepher
1 Plaguespreader Zombie
1 Cyber Valley

Spells: 16
3 Destiny Draw
2 Allure of Darkness
2 Gold Sarcophagus
2 Lightning Vortex
1 Heavy Storm
1 Brain Control
1 Mind Control
1 Reinforcement of the Army
1 Mystical Space Typhoon
1 Emergency Teleport
1 Scapegoats

Traps: 7
2 Phoenix Wind Wing Blast
1 Torrential Tribute
1 Mirror Force
1 Call of the Haunted
1 Trapdust Shot
1 Return from the different Dimension

And you have to build a good Sideboard. You can side into Skilldrain or Oppression very easily so be creative =)

Good luck at SJC Austin or at your local tourney!

Lalalala

I'm waiting for the next SJC that weekend.

I have build a "Chaos-Tele-DAD" deck and i'm working on a "X-Saber" deck which can win turn one with "Mass Driver". I will post more theory about the "X-Saber" deck and about sideboarding strategy before the weekend. I have thought a lot about the current metagame and i think that "X-Saber" is the answer to all decks, because it can discard the complete hand of your opponent or win in the worst situation by doing infinite damage with "Mass Driver" and the "Faultroll" loop.
